Vent Visor Brand and Style - Feedback?

Vent Visor Brand and Style - Feedback?

Postby dan61psu [OP] » Dec 27 2011, 11:12pm

I know there's a few posts out there about vent visors, but didnt see anything too definitive.

First, IN-channel versus Stick-on: I would prefer IN-channel due to looks, and ease of installation...but how the heck do these stay in the channel when you are doing 75+ on the highway if your windows are open? I feel like they would rip right out?

Second - has anyone found better success with EGR, versus AVS versus WeatherTech? They all seem similar price wise.

Also, anyone have issues with these things freezing up in the winter and pulling off when you roll your windows down?

Thanks!

I'm in the same boat trying to decide what in channel (well I prefer them instead of taping stuff on) Weather Techs look nice but a lot of $$...EGR seems like a good deal, will follow this thread

Over on GMTC.com, the WeatherTech's seem to get the highest praise....

I have the EGR in-channel on my Sierra crew cab and they are great. The front are basically pressure fit and I can assure you they stay in at highway speeds. The rear, while in-channel, come with 3m tape that sticks to the inside of the channel. Overall they are great and I have no issues. Ordered them from AutoAnything and I think I paid around $50 to $60 bucks for the whole set. Hope this helps.

i have the AVS in channel on my 11 Silverado Crew Cab. I had them on my previous truck as well. These still stick, the tape is on the opposite side of where the tape would be on the "stick on" ones. The tape sticks on the inside of the channel. Have no worries about them flying off at high speeds.. they stay put. I also have tint on my windows and I have no issue with the channel being tighter and screwing up the tint. IMP they look much better than the stick on ones.

Will be purchasing the in channel vent visors soon. Probably the weathertech ones. Anyone have issues with the in channel type scratching or otherwise damaging your tinted windows? I've heard on some vehicles the vent visors will scratch and possibly peel the tint off the top of the window after rolling the windows up and down

Anyone know if this happens on the Silverado?

Update: Went with EGR. Look great, simple, fast install, good price. I couldn't justify the price for the weather tech's. They cannot be TWICE as nice as the EGR version.

I was just checking these out at Cabela's. Do you have any pictures you can post?
