If you know you won't use the 4x4 then go with the 2 wd. My wife's suv has 4wd only because we were given a great deal on it. We've had it 6 years now and have only used it once, and that was just because it was there. Really didn't need to use it then.

Buy a beater pickup, and save the $$ for college. Just saying. Or get a scholarship in the next 2 years then buy what you want.

how much advice does he need?????? he keeps asking the same thing and everyone keeps telling him the same thing!!!!! its not just 1 thread its like 50.and i was 16 once and i had dreams to but he needs to think about school and the future first. i drove a old truck until i bought my house than i went out and got a new truck. the things you NEED in life come first JUST MY OPINION

I am just glad this 16 year old has great common sense to buy a practical GM truck and not a lowered import car with a coffee can on the end of the exhaust.!

I wish my 16 year old was into cars and trucks enough to dream about fixing one up. It breaks my heart that he thinks a car is nothing more than a way to get from point A to B. I've had to adopt Jon (starspangled6.0) so I have someone to talk motor oil and car parts with!

+1 on the GM common sense comment, too!

Why? I commend him for not "buying a ricer." There are enough of those on the streets as-is. Granted, a new truck is a dang nice vehicle for anyone, yet alone a 16 y/o. Congrats and hope you treat it well.

WHY?????? ok ill say it 1 more time than i'am done with this kid thing. 1st he says he bought a extended cab than he said he bought a crew cab. 2nd he said he wanted 2wd than he found a 4wd now he is asking about AWD. 3rd. he is wanting to lift a 2wd truck 6.5" with 35" mud tires. 3rd he plans on getting a Programmer to help with gas millage. what else do i need to say? the kid does not know what he wants he needs to go have his parents buy the truck than come back here and start asking questions about lifting it etc. and he should also think about resale for this lifted 2wd with 35'' tires!!!!!! who would want to buy a lifted 2wd??????????? not me i'am just saying so therefore i'am done talking about this not worth fighting over IMO
