Wheel well protection?

Postby HighSpeed [OP] » Jul 05 2012, 10:44pm

I'm looking for ideas to protect my rear wheel wells from the elements. I'm thinking about doing a Line X coating or something similar; these seem to be vulnerable spots on the truck.

Right now I just wash and wax these spots regularly. I use several coats to build up the layer to protect against moisture.

What do you recommend for wheel well protection?

I installed the factory wheel house liners on my new truck and like them. They make a huge difference in looks and will protect the wheel wells from anything flying off the tires.

all the cool kids these days have the wheel well plastic liners (similar to what you have in your front wells). Cost about $80, installs in seconds, keeps a lot of road S#*& from getting all over the frame.

*edit: you beat me to it...

The wheelhouse liners are the way to go.
You can get rattle can undercoating at your local auto parts store to and save a bunch of money versus X-Line also.

I didn't even know that there was an OEM part made for this application. No drilling required?

They each have [4] self tapping screws with them [two for the front and two for the back, you can see the heads of the screws in the photo] but the liners fit so tight you probably don't need them. On the lip of the fender there are [3] plastic push pins that go into holes that are already there.
