How to Install a K&N Performance Air Filter

Subject:
This how to covers step by step what is needed to install a K&N air filter in the new body style pickups. (2011 in pics)


Requirements:
• Skill Level: Anyone
• Time: Hour or less
• Special Tools: T-20 star wrench

Things You'll Need
Star Wrench T-20
New K&N Air Filter (pre-oiled)
Couple beers

A friendly helper that works for free.

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1. Pop the hood of the truck and locate the air box.

Step 2. Take your Star Head (T-20) and remove the 4 bolts that secure the top lid on the air box.

Step 3. Here you will see the stock air filter. Remove this filter in preparation to install the new K&N.

Step 4. Here you can see the difference between the stock filter and the K&N

Step 5. Install the new K&N Air Filter

Step 6. Once the Air Filter is securely in place, place the top lid back on and secure it with the 4 screws you removed earlier. Also place the K&N sticker in a visible place.

Conclusion:
This is a fairly simple upgrade to do and will really help the truck breathe better and help with MPG.

did you actually see an improvement in MPG?

I put an AFE high flowing dry filter in my truck and
gained an honest 1/2 mpg. This was over the course of
approx 4k miles before and 4k after.
