How to Make a Brake Fluid Pressure Bleeder for under $25

Postby SLCCHEVY [OP] » Apr 25 2012, 3:22pm

Hello everyone!

Here is a Video i recently made showing how to make a pressure bleeder for a Silverado (or any vehicle). This pressure bleeder will be used to completely flush out the brake fluid and replace it with new fluid. This bleeder can be made for under $25 and makes flushing the system very easy and very fast. Enjoy!

Good video! Maybe invest in a camera stand so it's easier for you to work. Excellent how-to-video!!

That's a great how to video!! It sure beats taking it to the dealer and paying some over a 100 bucks for a brake flush!! Thank you, now I need to go and get these parts.

great how-to, i made one and used and helped get the air out of the line after repair quickly. only thing i did different was to put quick disconnects on the part that attaches to the cap so you can have an easier time swaping between vehicles. also put a pressure gauge inline to see the amount of pressure on the systems.

Thanks Tweedly, just watched his video. Man, I wish I had made one of these when I had to bleed all 4 of my brakes a while back. I used my wife to pump the brakes.
This brings me to a question on pumping the brake pedal when bleeding. I`m going to start a new thread in the brakes topics.

The pump setup is a great idea, but I have a quick question on this process.

After you have the pump tank, empty tubing, and cap hooked up and 'sealed' onto the brake fluid reservoir, what happens to all of the air that's in the tubing and reservoir once you start bleeding the lines? Is the trapped air simply pumped through the first bleeder you open? Basically, are you pumping all of the air from the tubing and top of the reservoir through the brake system?

Do you try to pre-fill the tubing with brake fluid before attaching the cap to the reservoir?
