2003 ext cab rear window wind noise

Postby Guy4oj [OP] » Apr 07 2011, 5:24am

I have a 2003 sierra ext cab and my back windows dont seem to seal as they used to. Driving on the highway at around 80mph i hear a wind noise thats mainly just annoying. Has anyone else had this issue and fixed it? Ive spoke to 3 friends of mine who own the same truck and they dont know how to fix it. I was thinking about grabbing some black silicone and just permantely sealing them up. Any issues with this? i dont ever open them up, and if i ever had to im sure a pocket knife could cut it.

I've got the same issue on my silverado 1500. Rear window just got loose over time and rattles, but no because of wind, because of my 2 12's ;). Only thing I could think of doing is resealing the window.

Just make sure it's the window seal making that noise before you seal it up. To be sure, tape it up with some masking tape and take it out for a test run first. Good luck.

Guyfoj did you order those new pieces for your latch? How did they work? I have that wind noise on my 2002 Silverado and even with my bad ears I can hear it pretty well and it is annoying.

It looks like the entire window unit is somewhat loose from the body as I can push on the closed window and see quite a bit of movement between the seal & body. I'm in the same mind as to silicone it up. I like the idea of taping it up to see if that stops the wind noise so I may try that first.

Anyone else have these kind of issues? And what did you do to remedy the situation?

I have the same problem on my 02 silverado ext cab.... i was sitting in the back seat for some reason and i pushed on the bottom of the window on the hinge side and it is loose and lets alot of air in... it just about the most annoying thing sounds like the door is hanging open when im driving down the road.. i went on a cross country trip and put masking tape all around the window and that fixed it. it just looks like hell from the outside.. turning the music up is the simplest fix i have found
