Adding heated seats?

Postby NiqHerby [OP] » Dec 03 2011, 10:54pm

Hey guys, i have been wondering for a while if it would be possible to add heated seats to my '06 Sierra SLT? I know its probably possible, but i just kinda wanted to hear what you guys have to say. Has anyone done this before? How much does it cost? And how much time and how hard would it be?

I had mine done on my '11 at the dealer. Do you have cloth or leather seats already? I know to do heated seats they have to be leather if i remember correctly. I think mine with aftermarket leather cost about $1500. The dealer went to katzkins and got the premium leather for me so i can't complain about the price. This was also done during the negotiation when i bought the truck so the price for doing it after the fact may be a little bit higher.

heated seats can be put on any vehicle leather or not. there are several universal kits out there that can be bought for less then $400 (ebay), and come with all install items and instructions. if you want a OEM/Factory kit you will have to do a little more work an research. i know for the 07' NBS and up GM makes an after market kit that can be installed by the owner or by the dealer, the only catch is the computer requires a flash for it to work. once its flashed; if you have remote start on your vehicle, when you remote start it and the temp is below 35..(35 or around it) the heated seats will turn on automatically.

I just had heated seats installed in my 08 Silverado LT. It has cloth seats. It was done by a local shop that installs stereos, remote starters, etc. Except for a small round toggle switch about the size of a dime on the side of each seat near the recliner handle, you 'd never know anything was touched. They work great, 3 position, high, low & off. Cost was $385 for both seats including install and tax. Go for it!

Yes, I hear it advertised by a local shop here. They claim they have a package starting around $200. Makes me wonder if that is driver seat only. But, they say it can be done on cloth or leather. IMO, if you live in a cold climate, this is the best option ever for a vehicle.
