Best method to clean dash

Best method to clean dash

What do you all use to clean your dash?

I have a hard time keeping the dash clean. I get dirt piled on the dash and usually wipe the dash every few days with a California Duster. The issue is the texture gets dirt in it and I can clean it. I use wet wipes and spray cleaners but when I wipe them off, the texture stays the same.

Best method to clean dash

Postby happyhourhero » Feb 24 2013, 1:40am

I use griots garage vinyl and rubber dressing. No petroleum or harmful solvents in it. Leaves a nice satin look. Nothing greasy like armour all. In between applications of the above I just use a damp microfiber cloth. I'm guessing you have a light colored dash?

For dust I keep a swifter in the console. When I have used it half a dozen times I donate it to the wife for housekeeping and I get another new one from her.

I use goo gone. Just spray it on and wipe it. It's not necessary to use it, but it's just what I have easily available.

I have the 2-tone Ebony top, light cashmere bottom. the top is what is giving me a hard time. when I clean it it ends up looking like fresh black dash with light tan grout (texture).

If you try the Magic Eraser I would try it in an "inconspicuous spot". Usually I don't follow that tip on the box but I would if I used it on my dash.

Best method to clean dash

Always try new things in a hidden spot... there's my disclaimer.

FWIW, I keep a box of them in my truck. I use it on my console, steering wheel, door armrest, door panels, cloth seats, headliners, etc, etc, etc.

This might sound like a dumb question, but I want to make sure. You use the magic eraser wet right? I just want to confirm before I dive into something I have never tried.
