Carbon Fiber Interior Weekend....

Carbon Fiber Interior Weekend....

Postby Dukec4s [OP] » Jun 26 2011, 7:36pm

After installing carbon fiber overlays on the grill and tailgate emblems a few weeks ago, I got to thinkin, this may look pretty decent on the interior.....not a big fan of the faux wood look...

So....I picked up a sheet of the 3M DI-NOC Carbon Fiber Vinyl on Friday and I was off and running.....prying dash and trim pieces and getting ready to cover em up with CF...
It's pretty easy to work with.....has a cool dimensional texture and looks pretty sweet when light hits it.

And because I can't get myself to throw away a single scrap of the stuff, I thought I would take the remote key fob apart and wrap it too...

Here are a few pics....I took a bunch of the whole process...

I'm waiting until the sun comes out again to take pics of the finished interior....it's been overcast and rainy for 2 days here in FL...not complaining....WE NEED THE RAIN!

Thats a great idea. Can't wait for the finished look pics. I'm thinking that might be a nice look in my bland LT interior. A quick " How To " on removing interior trim would be nice. Got B-B -Q ribs in the oven driving me nuts right now. Damm they smell good :D .Think I'll go out in my truck and start taking inventory on trim pieces.

Still overcast here in FL so the pics look a bit on the gray side but the CF really looks BLACK!

Turkeyslugger...the CF is peel and stick but you definitely have to use heat to form it...it was kind of a PITA trying to juggle a hair dryer and trying to shape the CF around the corners at the same time....

It wasn't until my last piece that I found an easier way to handle the hair dryer....upside down squeezed between my legs...now both hands were free.....go figure!

Dude you did a great job on that. Looks cool on the center console too from the little bit I can see in the first photo. Feel free to do a How-To Blog or something like that on the process, I'd definately be interested.
