Any proof to back this up? I'm on my 3rd dash and it's cracked again. Same exact spot as other 2. I am done having it changed out only to crack again...

When mine was replaced I was told about them being reinforced but that they would still crack.

Do explain... did you find a replacement dash from a wrecking yard or online? I'm interested in this for a couple reasons.

Is anyone using a Dash mat to cover the crack in a 2007 - 2017 1500? My dash just cracked!

Every dash replacement was done at the dealer with GM new parts. My current dash is now starting to crack on the driver side now

Read the TSB they had in 2011 or whenever it was. I have a picture somewhere of both dashes next to each other and you can see the gussets added and thicker material used. Just gotta find it. The dash I have is 23224747 which is the newer design.

Maybe they are replacing yours with the same one. There have been 3 different dashes for mine since new.

Not my pictures, but shows the old style, vs the reinforced model. Like I said before, the material is thicker and at least on my LTZ dash, the gussets go across the middle portion.

Re: Cracked dash survey

Postby 07nnbs4x4 » May 19 2017, 8:12am

I just talked to my buddy who is a service tech at a Chevy Dealer and he said he has not had to replace any of the newer style reinforced dash's or had any complaints of cracking again with the new dash's in the hundred or so he has done, they have all been the old style.

He does recommend either a fabric dash mat and/or an entire front window UV film, along with using a window shade when parked in the sun. I have 5% window tint on all side windows and rear glass, as well as a brow and always use a window shade. I will get the UV film on the front windshield when I replace my dash as well as use a nice fabric dash mat to prevent this again.

From what he told me, GM added more gussets to the LTZ style dash than the LS/LT style when making the newer style. The Escalade Style Dash does not seem to have this problem, I wonder if that dash is build with a better material.

I have yet to install mine, the dealership estimates 6-8 hours to install one, so I know it will take me 12 hours to do it.
