Cracked dash

Cracked dash

Postby crawl59 [OP] » Jun 04 2012, 2:27am

Alright guys I was putting my registration sticker on my 09 silvy today and I noticed a four inch long crack in my dash directly over the steering column. I have no idea what caused it because I never put anything on my dash due to seeing other peoples dash cracking. But my question is that if I take it back to the dealership are that going to do anything since its all under warranty or just laugh and tell me I'm SOL?

Cracked dash

Postby crawl59 [OP] » Jun 04 2012, 2:44am

Ya I've still got the bumper to bumper but I guess I'll go to the dealer tomorrow and see. And I live in west Texas. So really hot and dry conditions, but I try to keep armor all on the dash to protect it.

I have to Agree with most the guys Armor all, and Windshield Visors. You can never go wrong with them or equivalent products.

Right there is why it is cracked. I would never put that on my interior anywhere. My buddy did his a few months ago and in weeks it was all cracked to hell. I used to recon cars and that stuff is known for this because it severly dries out the material.

+1 on the armor all..most people who have the dash cracking problem is due to armor all..it may leave a nice shine at first but wears down the plastic.. i used turtle wax ice interior care.It is a synthetic with no harsh chemicals and has no greasy residue..I heard this dash cracking is common down south..never heard of this up in wisconsin
