Door Pannel Speaker Covers

Where to find them?

Door Pannel Speaker Covers

Postby MorpheusHusky [OP] » Feb 02 2012, 6:03pm

When I bought my Silverado the speaker covers were missing, it kinda disapointed me cause that was the only thing wrong with the truck. I managed to get some $$ knocked off the price though so it wasnt a big deal.

Today I went to the dealer to get new ones and they told me since it was the Bose door pannel, I couldnt just buy the covers I had to get the whole door pannel. Didnt sound too bad to me untill he told me new door pannels are about $950 for each door.

My next thing Im going to try is to go to a junk yard and try to find a simular truck with the same speaker covers. If they dont match will I be able to paint them? I know some vehicles have the cloth covering over the speaker cover. Or does anyone else know of a site that might sell just the speaker cover?

I can upload pics if needed.

Someone who as an '04 can probably answer more accurately but most often the 'speaker covers' are built/molded into the door panel. Many aftermarket speaker providers offer their covers as a purchase item without the speaker. That may be an option? Otherwise you may be stuck buying panels for the clean OE look. :?

They are definately not buit in or molded into the door panel cause I can see where the old ones clipped in, not sure how easy they are to get out though if I find a set in a truck at the junk yard.

My 02 has panels that have tabs the same material as the panel(metal mesh) that are bent over holding it to the door.

So they could be painted to match if I find some on another truck?

Yes, you could paint the grilles to match the interior door panel. I pulled my grille off hoping I wouldn't have to pull the panel to replace the speakers..so much for a short cut.

I know that they sell interior panel spray paint, just not sure how close they will come to stock GM colors.

Yeah, that was my problem right after I got mine trying to find the chrome bumper after a guy backed into with his hitch...still haven't replaced it.

I don't know about on the US side of the border but my fathers 2002 Sierra had its bumper getting rusty a number of years ago, he went to the dealer and the dealer said that they were known for it and that GM would split the cost of the rear bumper if he bought a new skin for it. Might be something to look into, you never know
