FATMAT sound deadener whole cab installation w/Pics

Postby SLCCHEVY [OP] » Feb 02 2012, 9:04pm

Hey guys, I just wanted to show you my most recent project. I stripped out the entire interior of my truck and installed FATMAT sound deadener. I bought 100 sq feet of it and used every bit of it. I wasnt planning on doing this, however water leaked in through the 3rd brake light and stained my headliner. In order to remove the headliner you have to remove all of the seats. I am going to wrap the headliner in suede so as I am waiting for the suede to arrive I decided to apply sound deadener to the inside of the truck. I only have the factory stereo system. I am hoping this stuff will provide better insulation as well as a reduction in road noise. Once I get it all back together I will report back if there is a reduction in sound.

Looks good so far. Keep us posted on the finished product. I'm doing something similar with my track car. The headlined is gone so it gets awfully hot when I'm out on the track during the summer. So, I bought a roll of mylar heater wrap and will glue it up there. Hopefully, it'll drop the inside temp a few degrees.
Marine because.

100 sq feet of this stuff only weighs about 30 pounds so the weight isn't an issue. I used the same stuff in the trunk of my car so we'll see how this stuff does.

the biggest pain was trying to get the headliner out. The seats and panels are pretty easy, just bolts and clips. I got the stuff on Ebay. Here is the link, http://www.ebay.com/itm/100-Sq-Ft-Sound ... 821wt_1344

I paid $149
