Bad connection or blown speakers would be the most obvious answer.

The speakers aren't fused. Connect a known working speaker to confirm there is a signal on the wires. If there is your door speakers are shot.

I had the same problem with my rear speakers in my 2007 Sierra. I replaced all 4 door speakers and the tweeters and everything works fine now. Sounds 100% better too.

Re: gm radio rear speakers

Now THAT'S the kind of information that I'm looking for... :D
2007 1500 regular cab...
The right rear speaker is shot; it sounds about like the adults used to in the "Peanuts" TV movies...("Waa-Wah")
1. How do I dig those speakers out of the bodywork? ( I have no mechanical skills whatsoever! )
2. what size speakers are in there?
3. what makes for a decent upgrade?
Thanks guys!

You have to remove the door panels. There are a couple of bolts and a bunch of plastic clips along the bottom of the panels. Once you get the panels removed, the speakers are mounted into brackets that are held in with one bolt. I replaced mine with a Kenwood component speaker system. Total cost for all four doors and the tweeters was about $250.00. There are many great brands out there, I am partial to Kenwoods, I'm sure that other people here would recommend some other brands. Just go with a known name brand and you won't be disappointed. Remember, you get what you pay for, lol. I wasn't looking to blow my windows out. I just wanted the system to sound clear and not distorted when I turn up the volume. I am extremely satisfied with the Kenwood system I installed. Good luck.

I forgot to mention that all four speakers are 6.5 inch in diameter.

Check out www.crutchfield.com. You input the year, make, and model of your truck and they show you exactly what speakers, head units, etc. fits your vehicle.
