Does anyone know if this will work for an 04 Sierra with DIC controls on the steering wheel? I have seen a few steering wheels with DIC controls at local scrap yards and was thinking of giving it a try. GMpartsdirect shows 2 different available clock springs/spiral cables for 04 models with steering wheel controls and without. To even experiment with the idea means I'd have to try it with a used steering wheel and a clock spring from a vehicle with steering wheel controls. The steering wheel alone is fine, but adding a clock spring might be pricey. If anyone has upgraded on an 04, I'd appreciate any info.

jeol ask a dealer, they might help you. i asked a dealer today on my truck they told me i couldnt have a DIC but the forums says other wise. dealers price for a DIC is around $121. the GM online is half that price...

My 2004 has a "basic" DIC that is controlled through the trip meter button. I can only cycle through a very limited menu such as Trip, Mileage, and Engine hours. I have driven a 2004 Silverado that had DIC controls on the steering wheel that had a greater menu including mileage, door lock settings, etc. I'm not sure if the dealer could actually answer the question but i'll give it a try. I'm fairly certain the only way to know is to either try by installing a steering wheel with DIC & spiral cable assembly OR getting feedback from someone in the same situation that has already tried it.

try going to a savalge yard and looking at trucks they have there to see if you can... my 03 1500 it did not have the buttons they have now..

Hate to bring up an old post but this is sweet!! I had no idea you could add a dic and for so cheap either. I'll be picking up one for sure.

Has anyone found out if one can add a temp gauge and compass? I have an LS w/onstar but onstar does not give me the temp/direction on the mirror. It'd be handy to have the temp:)

That's the only two things I didn't get when I installed mine to. I was going to ask the dealer if maybe they could flash the computer to see if it adds it. I think they all have the temperature because I always get the" ice possible " message.

^^Let me know what you find out, since I know my truck has the temp sensor as It's already in the grille area, but I too was disappointed to not see the compass or temp.

Is it possible to install a DIC control on a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 All-Terrain edition? Dash is different from GM part that is offered. The All-Terrain package is a problem?

Just installed my DIC on my 2011 2500HD LT today, works perfect and just as other posts have said, 20 minutes or less and was very easy.
