Re: Installing a CB and antenna in 04 Z71

This thread is exactly what I am looking for. I finally get to mount the CB in my truck (old truck was too small inside to fit it). My biggest issue is that I do not know where to put my antennas. I cannot put them on the bed because the tonneau cover goes over the bedrails. Any suggestions?

I'd recommend the mount that bolts under the hood and comes out inbetween the hood/fender on the drivers side. Let me see if I can find it...

EDIT: Here it is

 I had to laugh at this comment because I feel the same way. That cubby hole is so worthless, it can't hold anything and it is so poorly designed. I keep the remote control to my head unit in there but every once in a while it falls out so it is really frustrating. Glad you found something nice to do with it... cover it up. ;)

Great write-up btw! Photos are always so helpful to visualize the project.

I actually use mine, lol. The cord to my head unit that plugs into my iPhone plugs into the front, so I plug up my phone and then sit it in that cubby hole to keep the cord and phone out of the way.

zr2tozr1 there is a solution actually to mounting your antennas on your bed with a tonneou cover. I have the same thing and will be making a thread soon. Firestik makes extended stake pocket mounts for antennas. and that is what i have. I have to extended mounts that stick out just far enough for the antennas. ill be making the thread soon with pictures
