Had some time today to install the cb today, still waiting on the antenna and the mount.
This is how you do it:

Place shifter in neutral and lower the steering wheel, then remove the dash trim.
IMG_0182.JPG
Remove your climate control unit by pressing on all 4 of the white clips and the unit will pop out. Now remove the light blue harness then hang unit over the steering wheel.

Pull out wiring harness to power ports and pick a set to tie into.

The other steps.

I used squeeze connectors to splice my new cb power cord in. wire it RED TO BROWN and BLACK TO BLACK. You can get the connectors from radio shack for $3 and the power cord from a cb shop for $5.
IMG_0185.JPG
Fish your power line down through the same area as the harness you tied into.
IMG_0188.JPG
Check for power to the cb and then reverse steps 1 through 4

For some reason I can load the last picture, I mounted the cb just below the power ports. I covered up that stupid cubby hole that doesn't hold anything. If you have an 04 to 07 with no center console you will know what I'm talking about.

Nope, that would be a local texas brew called Fireman #9. It is a really good beer. As soon as the antenna shows up I well post that install too.

 I had to laugh at this comment because I feel the same way. That cubby hole is so worthless, it can't hold anything and it is so poorly designed. I keep the remote control to my head unit in there but every once in a while it falls out so it is really frustrating. Glad you found something nice to do with it... cover it up. ;)

Great write-up btw! Photos are always so helpful to visualize the project.

When picking out an antenna you have a ton of options out there. Just remember if you go really cheap your going to get really cheap. I've gone with a Firestik. Firestik has a ton of setups and mounting options. I will be using the stake post mount. Your Firestik cable comes without the radio connection on it so you can run it in tight spaces.
IMG_0197.jpg
Fish the line up through the engine bay next to the brake booster.

IMG_0196.jpg
Run your line through the hole in your firewall that is used for your hood release. Now run it down to your radio and add your connector and install on the radio. Go back and zip tie the cable to the truck.

This is what mine looks like all finished.
