So I looked through the forum and couldn't seem to find an answer to my question, so I will try here. I have an 05 Silverado regular cab Z71. I have been wanting to put new seats in. I would like to put SS seats in that are both powered and heated. My truck right now has neither one of those options. Is it possible to install powered seats into my truck? Is my truck already wired for it so it is a simple plug and play exercise? Has anyone done this and have and tips for me? I would love to hear some feedback from you guys. Thanks
I have a 2005 Silverado regular cab Z71. I have been researching the same mod you are wanting to do. I want to do the same as you and have power heated seats and a center counsel. My research has found:
Can you install heated seats - yes
Can you install power seats - yes
Is the wiring already there to do this - no
The power heated seat option found in 05 Silverado SS is found on the door panel of the driver door and and also passenger side controls on the passenger door
You need to cut an opening in your door panel to mount the control unit. (not that difficult). Wiring from a SS Silverado had a plug to the control unit and the wiring follows the door lock and window control switch harness through the door, along and under the dash to the center counsel. From there, under the center counsel to the seat heater elements. Also wires continue under the dash through the door an conects to the passenger seat control switch.
The wiring for power seats on a SS Silverado run from the fuse box through the fire wall, under the carpet, along the door sill and to the connector on the side of the seat. I believe wires also run to passenger seat from here. If you have manual seats andyou want powerseats you need to buy a harness or make one.
You can buy the seats and install them. Mount the control units and run wiring to make it all work. Project difficulty on 1-5? 4.
This is what I have found. If this is wrong I will be glad to know I am wrong. I would like to do this and am still searching for a solution. A 2005 regular cab with SS amenities? On the bad a*s cool meter...10+
