Installing Power Locks

Postby Mirarchi87 [OP] » Jun 12 2012, 6:01pm

I'm looking to add power locks to my 2005 Silverado 1500WT. I'm not sure if this is even possible, just something I'm thinking about doing. I know there must be a thread on here with this info, I just can not seem to be able to find it. Thanks for your help!

since you've got the w/t package, i guess its safe to assume that aside from the door speakers, there are no other electronic components in the doors. power locks aren't an impossibility, but it all depends on how handy you are with electrical wiring, or how deep your pockets can go.
there are plenty of aftermarket power lock packages available. that'll be the most practically priced way to go about it for you. i believe there are ones with an alarm system and power lock setup bundled together. that way, you could also have a set of fobs to go with it.
be sure to let us know what you do, and how it went!

How deep into the pockets do you think we're talking? May not be worth it at this point.

About 50 bucks for power locks with 2 key chain remotes. I have installed these in several cars and trucks. If you are a little mechanical its not too difficult. The placement of the locks are pretty forgiving. Probably the hardest part is taking the door panel off. They come with a wiring harness with a fuse built in. Just need to connect to power and ground. (Constant power)
