Hey guys,
I just bought a new 2011 Silverado 1500 a few weeks ago, and have a question related to the insulation that is basically inside of the driver and passenger door openings. I have attached a picture of what I am talking about and circled the insulation I am speaking of in red (I happened to come across this pic in a post by Burls, sorry to hi-jack it! It saved me from having to take a pic of mine though!). Basically my question is why is it there and is it going to cause premature rust in that area? After driving in wet conditions or washing the truck, the insulation (especially the bottom piece) is soaking wet. Seems to me that this is just a moisture trap that will lead to rusting in that area. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
