Interior LED Floorboard Lighting

Interior Lighting

Postby Bhystad [OP] » Jan 12 2012, 1:02am

I have a 2011 silverado 1500 Ext Cab and have LED strips that I want in the floorboard in the front and underneath the seats in the back. I am wondering what to tie into for power. I want the lights to come on and off whenever my truck is on. I want to avoid using a switch. Anybody done this before and know what I can tie into for that power? Thanks

Theres a black box under the dash on the driver side. Its on the left side of the brakes. There is a 12v switch on the left side, male connector #7 and 8. Just use a female connector.

Thanks Jay,

You are exactly correct!!! I'll thank you for this post... :D

I'll have to check, but I think my 2005 Silverado was the same male connectors... It was easy, once I tied into it, and mounted the lights....

Take care, :-)

Is the 12v line that you are talking about under the driver side dash a 12v ignition switch? Aka only active when the truck is on?

I forgot which one it is. I think its the 7 is only when your engine is running. And 8 when its on acc and start. Use 3/8 female connectors. I just use 1/4 because i dont have 3/8
