Interior Touch Up Paint and Leather

Interior Touch Up Paint and Leather

Postby Mikejustowns [OP] » Mar 02 2011, 11:13pm

Few scratches on my dash (plastic) and 2 small blue marks on my arm rest (leather). Any where I can find touch up interior paint for my 07 NBS Silverado. Also not sure what that is on the leather? It looks like its from underneath. (Pic of leather below)

You really have to watch that leather. Brand new blue jeans will leave blue marks like that. I'm not kidding!

I agree with Gordon. I have heard others complain that their lighter colored leather was permanently stained by someone wearing new blue jeans. To date, I have nor heard of a good solution to fix the issue.

Correct me if I'm wrong but they don't paint the dash and stuff it's a dye they use right? So touchup paint is gonna be hard to match, not impossible but if youre very picky then it might bother you.

I was lucky enough to remove the blue jean dye with water but you have to act fast!

I would be very weary of what Gordon recommends - he now bears the mark of the beast

I quickly got past that number but I have this desire to play a Eternal Tears of Sorrow song. Maybe "The river flows frozen"?

Yeah, Gordon - I saw that post count this morning and wondered how fast you'd get beyond it!

Back to the subject - I'd try saddle soap to remove the blue marks (that looked like ink to me) - it is kind to the leather and the dyes they use to color the leather, and should remove ink or blue jean dye as well. Be sure to follow up on a leather treatment following the saddle soap application.
If you want to do what you want to do, you have to do what you have to do.

Good info guys.

Can anyone verify the dye thing I was talkin about that GM uses for the dash? I can't remember where I heard this?

As far as I know, the original equipment dash is molded to color.
