Just ordered a wood steering wheel for the truck

Just ordered a wood steering wheel for the truck

Postby EX-F150 owner [OP] » Feb 01 2012, 3:05am

I upgraded the steering wheel in my last truck with one of these and have been tossing the idea of getting one for this truck. There is nothing wrong with the current wheel so that made the decision a little harder to make, but I really like how these look! I did this upgrade in the last truck because the leather on the wheel was cheap and I had to have the dealer replace it once because of that. Anyways here is a picture of the new wheel. I will post some pictures when I install it.

Please look past this being a Ford. Here is a before and after picture from my last truck. Sorry that the second is a little dark.

Looking at them now it is hard to see but the wood matched the oem wood dash perfect. I hope this new wheel is the same.

My eyes ! Sorry... that blue oval and garish interior was too much :)!

So, that's not real wood, is it? What's the advantage of that vs. the leather one?

I doubt it is. advantages to me are; looks better and eaiser to clean. That was one of my big gripes about the leather wheel in the Ford. It would get dirty and sticky feeling. This leather seems better so I guess mostly just for the looks.

If you have the LTZ wood grain on the interior it would match pretty well and look good. I'm personally not a fan of the wood grain but to each his own. Matching is always good!

I personally like the Denali or Escalade steering wheel. Are the horn buttons interchangable?

you have to reuse the original airbag and all the buttons off the original wheel. I have read some threads that others have upgraded to the Denali wheel. They even made the heated option work too.

Wow cool. Well I only have the SLE trim so I'll just stick to my regular steering wheel. Actually the one you order looks really nice. I just checked it out on their website.
