Postby chefjpq [OP] » Aug 14 2011, 5:57am

Ok got an overhead compartment for my truck ( it previously did not have one ) and was pretty happy when I put the headliner in and the console snapped into place EXCEPT the front there is a place for a screw to go in and nothing above it I called the chevy dealer and he had no idea of what goes there he says his diagrams show a screw but that's it nothing else what the heck goes there and where can I pick one up???

There may be what they call a speed clip insert that pops in place for the overhead to screw into. I know my 99 has the overhead and there is a bracket with a little pop in insert for the screw.
Buying things I don't need to impress people I don't know.

Overhead compartment

Postby chefjpq [OP] » Aug 16 2011, 3:27am

Had to get a toggle bolt as the dealer had no clue even looking at it and the blueprints for the truck so anyone out there having the same problem 5/16 toggle bolt barely fit in the hole be sure to put it through the overhead first then into the hole tighten an your done.
