power windows

Postby isaac_GM03 [OP] » Jan 08 2012, 8:22pm

In 2008 I purchased a 2003 single cab 4.3L Silverado with power windows. The windows have worked fine up until about a year ago. The Chilton manual doesn't show these particular switches and several techs that I've had look at it say that the windows switches look after market. The windows stopped working last year. I used a test light to probe the switches and the windows would work after I would probe it but one time I probed it and caused sparks (the windows worked for around 3 mins and then stopped working completly) My question is, what do I need to remove all the wiring that is windows related? What do I need to buy to replace it with a conventional window crank handle and where can I buy it?

While probing the windows switch...that same day my instrument cluster lights stopped working only the odometer and radio work.

Can you provide pictures? If it's aftermarket, it will be hard to tell how it is set up.

Those are definatly aftermarket. You should try to find out who manufactured them and see if you can get a wiring diagram. Sorry I could not be any more help.

I came across a site that had an S-10 with the exact same windows switch that I have. The site says that they are Infinty. I have spelled Infinty just as the website has it. Has anyone heard of this brand? if so, where can I find a distributor?

I had those on my 1995 GMC They are called Joker style switches. you can find them all over the web. Had them on my truck for over 10 years and worked great. the only thing that failed on mine were the switches.
these guys have the best price. hope that helps

I have solved my problem with my power windows! I found the exact switches/set up online and purchased them. The kit came with all the wiring and wiring diagram which helped out so much because I would not have known where the wires were connected to and where the fuses were located. Thanks for all the help!
