Rear Bumper Alignment?

Rear Bumper Alignment?

Postby JonnyBlaze [OP] » Jul 25 2013, 9:54pm

Can the rear bumper be aligned left to right?

Just installed a backup camera and noticed my hitch wasn't centered with the camera. So I looked at my rear bumper and noticed I had a larger gap on the passenger side than the drivers side. Then I looked at the center where the ball cutout is and saw where is want lined up with the reciever hitch as well.

Here's some pics.

It's not really adjustable, because it bolts right to the frame, but I might get a little play in the holes, thats about it. It might be that the rear bumper was hit lightly and it was pushed in on one side.

That sucks. I don't see any dents or scratches though. And nothing on the carfax about an accident... Hmmm.

Just remember that carfax only shows if it was turned in to insurance or if the show turned it in. I have worked on a few trucks in my area that have had damage repaired and the car fax shows no damage reported.

So how can I tell if there is any damage and how concerned should I be? If the frame is bent, would it qualify for the carfax buyback? :(

I don't think your frame is bent, I'd say that the one side might have been taped lightly and slightly pushed in. I wouldn't be concerned at all. At most it's probably just cosmetic damage.

That's what I'm thinking. I just want to get the bumper centered so that my hitch is aligned with my camera.
