Replace Power Outlet?

Postby gonzales_93@live.com [OP] » Apr 23 2012, 9:02pm

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT extended cab in the front console there are two power outlets one on the drivers side and one on the passenger side. The passenger side one is broke and does not work. I want to replace it, but I am not sure how hard of a fix it is going to be. I don't know how many, or which covers I have to take off in order to fix it. I was just wondering if anyone has ever taken it apart to fix it?

Clips hold that whole plastic piece in place. Carefully pull it forward and it should release the retainer clips. Do it when the plastic is warm not stone cold or it will break.

Also while I had that plastic piece out I saw a plug that was wired in. It was flat and had three holes, does anyone know what it is?

I'm interested too. Were you able to take a picture of the plug in question?

Well I could take it with my phone, but I am not sure how I would get the picture on to the website. I could send it to your phone. I have no idea what it is.

Re: Replace Power Outlet?

Hi, I'm having similar problems with a power outlet in my work truck. Both of them stopped working when I hooked up a safety light to it. I assumed it was the fuse but all fuses are still working. The outlet itself doesn't give power to anything. Here is a picture of one of the outlets that I took out. You can see the melted plastic. Where would I go about buying one of these? Do I need to go to the dealer because Autozone doesn't have it.
