the bully dog tuner has a trans temp reading on their display.
i wonder if just replacing the instrament cluster with one that has the trans temp guage in it would work?

Yes, its plug and play. I did one on my 02 1500. Search junk yards or online. if you find one in a junk yard you will have to have it programed for the milage thats on your truck. If you buy it off line then sometimes the seller (if they can, will reprogram it for you).

The price will be different for different places. I think I ended up paying $275 for the cluster and to reprogram, and send in my old cluster.
