Postby Bellracer22 [OP] » Sep 20 2012, 3:55pm

Hello, i am getting ready to install a sub and amp to my factory stereo and have everything ready except for where to hookup the remote wire. I am no newbie to installations but with factory stereo i am, i bought a pac audio add an amp interface for my rca's and it also has a remote wire but it needs to be connected to a source first for it to work. i have read where they say the pink wire on the main harness, but what harness??? and i want to make sure the amp wont shut off if i want to shut truck off and still listen to radio a bit.

It is an 03 silverado 1500 with single cd NON BOSE.

There should be a switched power wire to the radio as well as a constant. I don't have a wiring diagram so I can't tell you colors, but a multi-meter should help. I would hook to the switched wire, that way whenever your radio is on, so is your amp.

The remote turn-on is the pink wire on the Main Factory harness. This powers up the amp.

OK, i have heard that the pink wire was it but i also heard that the amp will come on randomly while truck is off. Is there a reasonfor that? I am going to try it tonight and hopefully only have to do it once. thanks for the help

UPDATE: ok so no pink wire on main harness in B3 pin. so i chose to run wire to fusebox, now my problem is which fuse do i tap into? i dont have a meter or i wouldnt ask. I found 2 possible ones that i could use, #1 the radio fuse (15 amp), #2 fuse labeled radio amp (30 amp). Does anyone know if these will work or know of one that will for sure work?

Also it must NOT be ALL 2003's have a pink wire, becaus mine does not.

ended up using a fuse labeled ign acc 0. had 12v when key is on and none with key off, so the amp wont be on while key is off.

03 Silverado amp install, Where to hookup remote wire?!?!

Postby Machster69 » Sep 27 2012, 7:56pm

Ide still switch the wire. That way you have the option of turning off the amp at the flip of a switch...

i ran the remote wire to my fuse box with an add-a-fuse and plugged it into the ignition so on the first turn of the key the amp powers up
