Amp won't turn off

Amp won't turn off

Postby Natalie [OP] » Aug 07 2011, 4:19pm

I hooked up my amp to the stock head unit and ran the remote wire to the fuse box. Everything works fine, but the only problem is the amp will not shut off when the truck does. I've tried tying into every accessory that turns off when the truck does and the amp still stays on. Any idea what the problem could be?

Have you tried removing the turn on wire and make sure the amp shuts down?

Are you using a test light to find your acc fuse?

Some trucks have the battery run down. If you have the drivers door close when you shut off the truck all the accessory will be on for up to 20 minutes. Once you open the drivers door it shuts everything off. I only notice that this works with the driver door. You can open the other doors and it does not bother the battery run down. Also you may plugged it into an always hot port on thye fuse box.

Try fuse number 44 under the hood.

I'll go out and try #44, but if i'm not mistaken, i've tried that one already.

I've read somewheres that it could also be a bad amp that would cause it. So I switched out amps to see, and it does the same thing with the other one.

Hmm, that is weird. Did you get amp power from the battery? Also make sure you have a good solid ground. I know 44 shuts down when the key is shut off. If you pull the wire off the amp it shuts down fine?

The wire is out the amp now... That's the only way I can turn it off.

#43 or #44? 44 on my truck is an empty slot that a fuse sits loosely in. And according to your picture, that would be my #43 (Miscellaneous - Ignition)
