Behind the seats amps

how much room?

Behind the seats amps

Postby jake14 [OP] » Apr 11 2011, 1:49am

Hey all,

I have a 2009 extended cab, putting the cart before the horse as always, I picked up two amplifiers, one is a Kicker ZX1000 and the other is a ZX2275, the are rather large, and I haven't removed the back seat yet. I seen from pictures there is ample room as far as depth, but does anyone know how much width and if there is any cutting or modification required. over all, going with a Atrend prefab box with two Kicker 10's...
any advice would be great!
Jake

I have a 06 ext cab and I have a pre fab box with 2 12's under the seat. What I did was mount my two amps on to the box its self with no problems

thanks, that might be an option as well! no worries of over heating or ventilation? might end up like "rear heated seats!" lol

Check this out Hartski, looks like there is a plastic baffle that can be cut, and mount a piece of pressboard agaist the back for a amp rack, looks like you gain some depth as well, would be interesting to see how much you could cut out as my amps are quite long when placed side by side. what do you think?

I don't know about the kicker amps, but I had two orion 1200D's under the back seat of my (I know, give me a break I was 18 at the time) Dodge Ram. Never had an overheating issue on the amps though. I just built a little amp rack under the seat and mounted it all. Now I know most people put the subs under the seat but mine were to big to do that, but if it was this tight under the seat, you should be fine behind the seats. and I road tested it a lot, all the way from chicago to sarasota a few times, and a few competitions. Also if the pics don't work sorry I've never posted pics before.

Like 165db. Those were by far my best subs. In my s10 I had 6 twelve inch alpine type r subs. And was getting around the same. I wish I still had the money like back then...;)
