Will my iPhone play my music via Bluetooth ?

Bluetooth ?

Postby Bombero7 [OP] » Mar 23 2012, 11:07pm

Hey guys, newbie here, just bought my new GMC Sierra. I have paired my iPhone to truck and the phone system works fine. Can I play my iTunes music on my iphone over the radio via Bluetooth, or does it have to be connected by USB or wire?

Only way to find out is to try it. I know most decks just do the bluetooth for phone purposes and you have to actually hook it up via a cord to the deck to get it to play music. Thats what I have to do with my Pioneer DVD/CD deck anyway, not sure about the system that comes stock in the newer trucks.

I don't think it will work....it's phone only, unless they changed it since 2010.

I'm pretty sure it's phone only on Bluetooth.

Bluetooth ?

Postby fox4wd1981 » Mar 24 2012, 7:10pm

I thought it had the same Bluetooth setup as the Camaro? I know in the Camaro you can listen to music and use the phone through the Bluetooth. It made me jealous that my truck didn't have Bluetooth when I test drove the Camaro a few weeks ao.

That's unfortunate, but not a huge problem. Thanks for the replies.

My 2011 Sierra 1500 SLT is paired with my iPhone 5 and it is Bluetooth for the phone function only. The USB connector in the console will allow you to control your music with the factory radio. I don't do it myself but my daughter does it with her 4 generation iTouch so it should also work with the phone. Rick

I have a 2012 Silverado and have had both the factory AM/FM CD/MP3 with AUX input stereo and currently have the factory HDD nav unit installed. Neither of these head units have standalone Bluetooth. I believe it's part of the VCM which in my truck is below the climate control module, at the front of the center console (LTZ console).

As far as I know, only aftermarket head units will give you this option with the GMT900 platform (2007-2013 model years). I have no idea what the K2XX (2014) offers, as the units are completely different.
