You managed to post everything *except* the actual name of the App (and/or Jailbreak repository) that fixes this! Spill the beans, please!

Update your iPod to the new ios 6.1. I did this the other day and I can now control my radio and songs through my iPod instead of on the radio only.

When I plug the cord into the dash and into the ipod touch I cannot control the ipod touch it just locks the screen and says connected and i can only go to the next song with the up and down arrow on the steering wheel or head unit. Is there a way not have the screen of the ipod lock and say connected and be able to control the ipod touch from it screen??

I assume no Bluetooth in your truck? Because if so, as covered in a recent thread, you can control your iPod through voice command [Siri] when connected to the USB rather than using the dash controls. Dash controls are not toooo bad, but pretty clunky and time-consuming, especially when compared to voice commands. I have an iPhone 4S running the latest ios, 6.1. Works awesome with Siri.
