Installing Speakers in 2010 sierra ext cab.

Postby Jk44linebacker [OP] » May 29 2011, 4:31am

Okay, so after finally giving up on the crappy stock speakers, I decided to buy the alpine type S component, and regular speakers for my truck. Im going to get the component installed, because I dont want to mess with wiring the tweeters, but ill probably do the rear myself.

This is the farthest that im going to go cost wise until the truck is paid for, so should I put the speakers in now with my stock head unit and ?factory amp? I dont want to have to turn my system up all the way to hear my speakers, but if they are just a tad quieter I can stand it. If the sound volume and quality are significantly lower, then I might as well wait 6 months and put in a 4 channel amp and a couple of alpine 10" type Rs.

Thanks for the help. New to the site.

I think you'd be fine. Put 'em in and see what happens!

I installed the rear myself and had Best Buy do the components. They are an upgrade, but not as impressive as I thought. An amp will be on the way by the end of summer.

if you want some improvement to your stereo on the cheaper...

buy a ( Alpine Head Unit ) that is compatable with the ( Alpine Power Pack ). The power pack with take the hu's standard 20-25 watts RMS to each speaker, and will amplify each speaker to 45 watts RMS...

the power pack is small enough to fit behind the HU in the dash, or has plenty of wire length to put in the glove box. its a direct plug n play from the HU to your wiring harness...

before I took the plunge of going for a rediculous 4 channel amp in my previous explorer, the power pack made a decent difference for only 100$...
