Power Converter

Ideas, experience, suggestions on good inverter converter for my truck.

Power Converter

Postby Jtrumpet03 [OP] » Mar 12 2011, 6:14pm

Ok, so summer time is approaching but more important its the return of tailgating season. With the purchase of the new wheels come new upgrades as well. Last year I used a 400W / 800W Peak with dual 110V outlets. I worked decently for just stereo speakers and a laptop for music. It was shut down on me occasionally because of overload from the laptop and also it would shut off when I would use just the speakers and a blender. So I'm just looking for something with alittle more juice and something more suitable for tailgating. Let me know what y'all think.

I was trying to stay away from generators, aren't they usually expensive?

2k Honda about $950. Quiet fuel efficient & bulletproof.
That inverter is just gonna leave you with a dead battery.

ok, that price isn't to bad. I had a 90 GMC 1500 that had a dual battery setup, would that help me out with the battery drain from the inverter.

I've been really happy with my Xantrex 1000 Watt inverter. It is always best to have the wattage a little higher than you think your needs are. But you can expect to run down the battery pretty quickly. I have mine connected to a deep cycle battery and an 18x36 Solar panel and charge controller, completely separate from the truck's electrical system.
If you want to do what you want to do, you have to do what you have to do.

I can't argue with CHEBBY. Honda's are good. But before you go buy new, check Craigslist first. You can find some pretty good deals there. Good luck!

Thanks fellas. I'll look at both as possibilities and I'm also a frequent craigslist shopper so I'll definitely check there.
