Power For AMP

Postby Raffi [OP] » Dec 24 2011, 10:29pm

Hey guys,
where is the best place to get power for my amp. I currently connected to the Bat box off of the alternator and the lights dim like crazy even with low volume. Should I pull from the batter or get a Capacitor? If a Cap is the answer which type?
thanks.

Im running a small Alpine type R 8" and a MTX amp.

I'd pull it directly off of the battery.

I don't have an amp, mine is stock. However, if I did, I would get my power for it directly from the battery.

Battery for sure. And make sure your inline fuse is double of what the amp has.

I plan on going to the battery. My amp has (2) 30amp fuses you think it should have a 60amp fuse? I was planning on a 30amp as well. thanks for all the help. I plan on completing this tomorrow.

Definitely draw from the battery. Also make sure your fuse is within 12" of the battery. Use the correct terminals and the right sized wire too. You can upgrade the 'big three' as well to help stop dimming. This just means upgrading wire sizes on your alternator to battery, chassis to engine block, and negative battery to chassis.
