RADIO PROBLEMS

Postby bassman3112 [OP] » Jan 16 2012, 4:43pm

My 2006 Chevy silverado 5.3 V-8 is giving me some problems with the radio and speakers. Stock system...no modifications.

Sometimes the radio sound does not work....very low high pitched sound. Sometimes I will have all speakers working.....other times only a few of them work. Not consistent. Sometimes i don't have sound for days...then all of a sudden I have sound. It is consistent in that when I don't have sound....it will not come back no matter how many times I turn the radio on and off. It will only come back after an engine restart...but I never know when.
Not very electrically inclined, but can follow anyones directions if they have a troubleshooting guide or suggestions on what could be wrong. :(

Can you pull the dash apart and get the radio out??? if so then check the connections it may be grounding out somewhere in the dash..if not a car audio store can trouble shoot for 60 to 80 dollars and if they find something that cant be fixed they can put some of that to the price of a new one like we do at my shop. Hope that helps.
