Regular cab system

Postby 2000sierra [OP] » Sep 18 2011, 2:28am

I have a 2000 gmc sierra regular cab, and was looking for system ideas. I already have an aftermarket kenwood deck. just looking for some new speakers and maybe subs with a box setup and amp. Any ideas?

Two 10 inch Solo Barics will rock in a standard cab.

from personal experience, solo barics will hit, but will not wear well and will eventually start to go out on the corners due to the corners being the pressure points. circle subs are better IMO. in my standard cab 02 silverado, I have one 12" MTX Audio Thunder sub in a shallow mount truck box being powered by a 320W Total Mobile Audio amp. and with a stock head unit and it sounds GREAT. the route i would go is (kicker comps or kicker cvrs) two 12s or two 10s in a custom box from a local audio shop and have them wired up to a nice amp. dont cheap out either. you get what you pay for. just my little bit of input.

Wow, we have never had Solo's come back with worn corners.

You can also look into the Memphis shallow subs. They sound pretty good also.

As Justin said, try not to skimp on amps. Good amps cost a little more but are worth it.

well, now that you mention it.. the solo's that i've need be discarded are the ones that were in
the custom center consols and got constant sun abuse (they weren't exactly babied) haha.

but yes, memphis is a great place to start.

and one thing to not is... you can have $2000 subs and a $100 amp. those subs will still sound like $100.

I'll probably get some heat for this, but I've always been a Bazooka kind a guy. I am not looking for a system that is going to win awards at a car show. Just a little thump. I would consider and amplified 10inch bazooka.

and that's what I've got currently. like i stated before, i've got a 12" MTX Audio Thunder sub powered by a 320W Total Mobile Audio amp. with the bass on the amp turned all the way up, and the bass on the stock head unit turned all the way down, i get just that little bit of thump i like. but if need be, I can turn the bass up on the radio and BOOOM BOOOM! hahaha. and if i REALLY want to show off, I have two 12" Kicker Comps in a ported box that i keep in the bed under the cover; i can pull them out the back, put them on the front seat with me, and they SLAM.

Regular cab system

Postby fox4wd1981 » Sep 18 2011, 4:15pm

I have had 2 regular cabs in that body style. In both of them I had a box behind the seats with 2 alpine R series 10" with the amp custom mounted in the middle. Good sound clear bass and overall loud as all get out. Sounded like a live concert in the truck.

YESSS!!! not only are the type Rs clear and precise, they can hit amazingly hard.
that is another route that you may want to pursue.
