remote start on android remote link

Postby hocman22 [OP] » Feb 01 2012, 9:12pm

i have a 2011 silverado and it came with the trial period of on star. Its very expensive to renew and the only reason i want to renew it is because of the remote start on my phone. Just wondering if anyone has it without using on star?

Yeah, it suck a$$. I was showing it off to my friends. It didn't work because of the poor phone signal in that area. That was the on-star app. Alpine Smart Start did the same thing too. So it's basically your phone carrier. If you have crappy AT&T like I do, then you might have the same problems.

It's definitely convenient to have but yeah, the monthly subscription isn't cheap.

Viper Smart Start had improved since it was release a few years ago. When I first had mine, I kept getting Server Unavail error messages. Probably with AT&T's shitty service had a lot to do with it. What I didn't like most was the lag I sometimes had when sending a command to my car. I have the 5702 viper alarm system now with remote start.

I like it a lot. It's 10 times more convenient then the phone. Situations like when it's raining outside, I don't have to pull out the phone and find tha app and stuff. I can just reach in my pocket without removing the key fob start or unlock my car.
