**I'm not in any hurry either. I had an aftermarket head unit put in and they used the wiring from the usb for the new unit.

I'd be all for trading, to keep me from ordering anything; however, I'll be in afghanistan for at least another 90 days. I had the bright idea to be all I could be.

USB Port Relocation

If I'm not mistaken these are the part numbers for the covers and receptacles...

USB Cover (Retainer) - 20983937 ($4.72 GMPartsDirect.com price)
USB Port (Receptacle) - 20944422 ($16.68 GMPartsDirect.com price)
12V Cover (Retainer) - 20983936 ($2.13 GMPartsDirect.com price)
12V Port (Receptacle) - 25774623 ($2.62 GMPartsDirect.com price)

You might want to double check with GMPD or a dealer's parts department to make sure the numbers are all correct.

Ah, this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! Trying to do all the research I can while I have a little bit of down town. I wanna have everything waiting for me when I get home so I can just hook it all up!

Like I said John, I'm not in any hurry. Its been unhooked for a couple months now lol. The receptacle is just sitting there in the dash lol. When we take road trips, there's no fewer than 4 cell phones, 2 iPods, and a radar detector (except in VA of course 8) ) that I need to charge/power at some point, so me having 2 power ports would be a beautiful thing. If you want to order everything so its waiting on you, I completely understand that too. I didn't realize the power port was so cheap. I may just order one anyway lol. Just let me know what you want to do when u get back!

And thank you, for being all that you can be so that we can all sleep a little better at night! We really appreciate what you're doing!

Re: usb audio port/cig lighter replacement

I know this is an old thread, but I've been contemplating adding another USB port in the bottom storage compartment of my jump seat so I could hook up my iPod and have it out of site and out of the way. Does this sound like something that would be fairly easily done? I have a power port down there now, I figure I could route the wire up to the console under the hump and hook it up to a splitter at the back of the radio. I also thought about just swapping the power port from the jump seat to the console and moving the USB down to the jump seat. I'm not sure what I want to do for sure. Having two USB ports would be useful. I also thought about adding a power port and USB to the back of the jumpseat for the passengers in the back seat. What would be the problem with using the USB's at the same time?

usb audio port/cig lighter replacement

Postby Dray946 » Nov 19 2012, 11:04pm

I don't know about the problems you would face with using the multiple USBs at once, but as far as relocating them, it's relatively simple. I moved mine from the dash to the bottom of my jumpseat so that I can keep my iPod out of sight and locked.
Make sure you get a quality USB cable. I found that not all of them have all of the wires (7 I think) connected end to end. Some only supply power, no audio signal. I had to order mine online, there are a few places that sell them.

usb audio port/cig lighter replacement

Postby Dray946 » Nov 20 2012, 3:03am

I took the tray out of the bottom of the storage area, it can be pryed out carefully, and fished it under the carpet up to the dash by the floor vents for the heater. By the floor vents, my carpet had enough slack that I could pull it back enough to grab the wire snake. I did notice that there are a few wires and such under the carpet so be careful. I had no problems though.

Awesome. That's the main reason for doing this, so the iPod is out of sight and out of the way. The other end of the USB cable is a micro or a mini?

usb audio port/cig lighter replacement

Postby Dray946 » Nov 20 2012, 2:38pm

If I remember correctly it is a micro b USB male that plugs in to the dash receptacle and a standard USB male to the back of the radio but I would check yours prior to make sure it's the same. I read somewhere online that the end going to the radio should have a 90 degree angled head on it, but I used a straight one with no issue.
