when people see your aftermarket headunit, they will automatically expect better then stock sound...

keeping the HU stock, then cranking the newly amped speakers might suprise someone not expecting to hear loud clean sound, not commonly associated with factory stereo's...

atleast the thinking makes sense i hope...

Good Call.

What kind of audio system are you running?

Postby Shoreman » Feb 07 2012, 11:38pm

Installing on Friday:

Alpine CDA-117 (head unit)
T1-1652s Fosgate (front doors)
T1-1462s Fosgate (back doors)
Alpine PDX-4 (running the above)

Also in 3 weeks, I'll be installing a custom fiberglass/MDF box under the rear seat with 2 JL Audio 10w3's running on a JL Audio 1000/1 amp that I've had from my previous car. Looking forward to it!!

What kind of JBLs are you running?

As for me, Kenwood DDX418 touchscreen head unit with all the bells and whistles, Alpine Type-R 6.5" speakers in the doors, 2x JBL tweeters, 2x JBL GTO 10" subs w/ downfiring custom box, 600w JBL amp powering the highs, 1800w Kenwood amp powering the subs.

Finally every thing is ordered and will be here by monday at the latest....I'm trying to keep it simple but LOUD. Wanted one amp to push it all so I would not have to change the batt/alternator. Wanted a little bass but some thing I could easily grab, unhook and take out of the truck with ease when needed....so this is what I ran with.

front- (2)Infinity Kappa perfect 6.1 components

rear- (2) jl audio VR600 CXi

sub- jl audio CP108LG-W3v3.........it's a single 8 in a slot ported box, hit's like 2 ten's.

ALL powered by a single Alpine PDX- V9 (5 chan. - 4 x 100w & 1 x 500 w. @ 4 ohms)

Rockford wires holding it all together.......I truckin' can't wait!!!!

Non Bose factory H.U. will stay for now....
