Where's the amp ???

Where's the amp ???

Postby john62 [OP] » Jun 14 2012, 1:59am

Hi everyone I have a 2007 nnbs silverado 2500 hd . I would like to know where the amp is located? I had my radio checked (OK) . I was told that my problem is either a bad connection , a bad amp, or a short in wire or speakers.

Sorry but this is incorrect. I too have an 07...Just put a head unit in it last night, no rear sound.

Apparently, the rears are powered by an amp. I'm still looking into it. That's how I found this thread.

*Edit it seems there are three available systems in these trucks.

1 Base single CD
2 6 disc, 6 speakers (where the rears are driven off an amp)
3 Bose

The only radio that has a factory amp is the bose radio the rest of them the speakers are powered through the head unit. If you had the stock bose none of your speakers would work unless you have the amp turn on connected to your new radio. Then the audio would be loud as hell at low volumes if you hooked it up to the speaker out puts on your new h/u. I would look and make sure that you have every thing connected right ane if you are using the radio replacement harness it could be messed up.
