Ford Switcher...

Postby robhanna [OP] » May 04 2012, 5:58am

Folks:

I've always been a Ford man ever since I could buy my own vehicles. We had a 1982 6.2 Diesel Suburban when I was a kid and when I got old enough to drive, I inherited the "war wagon." We put 3 rear ends in the thing and 2 transmissions before the family said good-bye with 250k+ miles. It retired to a friend's dear lease where it was mated to a 4X4 chassis and still survives to this day. I think all five of my parent's kids got to experience the beast. Needless to say, my aversion to GM grew from that experience and the fashionableness that ride provided as a teenager. First truck I purchased on my own was a Ford Ranger. Chevy never crossed my mind. In fact, I ran from it. Next I went through some Toyota passenger cars and ended back with a Ford 500 and then the most recent F-150. I become very good at basing the bow tie.

Two weeks ago I purchased a 2012 1500 CC LS from a local dealer. With incentives I paid $22,750. I traded in my 2008 Ford SC XLT with some hesitation as you might imagine given my recent vehicle pedigree. It was such a great deal, I couldn't pass on it. After two weeks and a road trip, I can tell you that I have seen the light! The ride on the Chevy is so much better. I mean it is like night and day. It's like riding on a pair of rails compared to my Ford. The interior finish is well thought out. I do miss some storage, but I can live without it. Having just cleaned the center console of the Ford out recently, it was just full of junk anyways. Overall I am very pleased, and this might become my very own family "war wagon" someday.

For all my previous sins of Chevy bashing, I beg forgiveness.

Truly impressed with my new truck and I can't wait to start doing some minor modifications. So far my list includes:

- Katzkin Leather seats (I have dogs and they haven't been in the truck yet, and miracle of miracles they are still present with me everyday. The seats do seem to collect things).
- PolkAudio DXi650's to replace the OEM speakers.
- OEM Locking tailgate mechanism (did this tonight... super easy. Took all of 20 minutes).
- OEM fog lights (maybe... haven't made my mind up yet).
- OEM chrome door handles
- OEM chrome mirrors
- OEM Remote Start (another maybe)
- Cold Air intake (Again, open to ideas here.)

Thanks for taking the time to read a penitent's humble cry for forgiveness. :D

Welcome man.

We all have our opinions, Ford vs Dodge vs Chevy vs Foreign. Doesn't make one wrong, or one right...as long as YOU are happy, that's all that matters.

Throw up some pics!
