Hey everyone, I decided to take a minute away from my workday to write an intro!
As my username suggests, my previous truck was a 2003 S-10 ZR-2. It was a great little truck that I had for the past 3 years and I adored it. However, on 11/11/11, I was driving to work when I hit a patch of black ice on a bridge, fishtailed a few times, and then hopped the guardrail (thanks to my low-sitting Westin brush guard). I fell 30 ft and rolled end-over-end, landing right side up in a 5 ft ditch full of freezing water. I walked away with only a bruise on my hip from the seatbelt. My little truck saved my life, but it was considered a total loss by the insurance company. I felt like my best friend had died, I was so devastated. Sure it was important that I was safe, but that truck meant the world to me. My fiance went to the lot it was being held at to take the plates off, and out of curiousity he turned the key, The truck started with no problems, and that would be the last time it would run. He pulled the S-10 badge off of it, to help remember it by.
Shortly there after, my fiance spent a whole day reading thru craigslist postings for chevy trucks. We talked about it and decided at this point I would be better off with a full-sized truck. He read thru 500+ postings, and on the very last page came across a maroon 2001 Silverado Z71 with 66k on it. I called the owner, and after a few weeks of arguing with the insurance company and the bank, I finally bought the truck. It is rather plain because the man who owned it was in his late 60's or so, but its spotless. I took the S-10 badge and put it in my glovebox, so the little truck that saved my life can always ride with me.
Anyway, I have a list of things that I intend to change on the Silverado, and I am thrilled to come across a site with so many active, helpful GM truck owners!!! I will be posting pics often! I also kinda "co-own" two other chevy trucks. My fiance drives a black 1997 Suburban, which I have helped pay for a number of repairs on hahah. Also, my father is the original owner of a 1988 Scottsdale 2500 that is garaged in the winter. It is 99% original (headliner became saggy and was replaced) and will remain that way. I am inheriting it when he is too old to drive (which is a ways off yet).
Nice to meet ya'll!
