new guy, looking to make my truck better

Postby walkertx2008 [OP] » Aug 01 2011, 6:42am

hey, new guy to the site, i drive a 2007 silverado 1500 classic 2wd lt, victory red, extended cab.

i cant post pics of it right now because i am currently deployed and my current computer doesnt have any pics of it saved.

ive done a little to the truck but nothing major, the biggest thing is just an air intake, but once i get back from this deployment i am planning on adding an exhaust, either 4" or 6" lift, and either 33's or 35's BFGoodrich all terrains.

ive thought about selling my truck recently and im still in debate about it just because of financial reasons, owning this truck and rebuilding my mk3 supra is putting a little strain on things but hopefully by the end of the deployment that wont be too big of an issue.

thats pretty much everything i can think of at the moment, yall wanna know anything else just let me know. hopefully i will be able to fins some parts on here too.

cool thank you for letting me know, i went ahead and joined the serviceman group, and no i dont really want to sell it but money is tight, even after this deployment money will be tight, and i still owe close to 13700 on my truck, pair that with rebuild a mk3 supra and then having full coverage on both, plus gas and maintenance... its gonna be a stretch, if i can find some of the parts i am looking for on here for cheap though i will probably end up keeping it, because being a newer truck it should last me much longer than if i were to buy something older. but we shall see how time unfolds

hey brother, im in the service as well. From Seymour/Johnson AFB...Dont get rid of the truck just yet, not sure what your looking for in the lifted side of things but to fit 33" tires a body lift will do fine. i had one on my older style chevy. But it has a gap in the rear wheel well and you can see the frame pretty easily under neath but it served the purpose and got the job done to make the truck look bigger. I would suggest a torsion leveling kit but a few buddys of mine put them on and there ride is stiff, hits every bump with force. Totally up to you but i know that money situation and a suspension kit for a grand is a bit to rich for my blood. I actually just purchased a 07 new style silverado.

yea i thought about doing a body lift but im not a big fan of the gap it creates and spacing between the frame and the cab, i found a few suspension kits, one is a rough country 3"front and 2" rear kit for like 530, and the other is a 6" spring tech for 850, im leaning toward one of those but it depends on what my finances look like at the end of this deployment you know, and i dont have torsion bars on my truck, or i would go with those cause those kits are a little cheaper usually, but i have coil springs in the front so i have to go with the coil spring kits, im gonna try for a suspension kit just because i like the look of them better and they do provide a little more functionality than just a body lift and bigger tires. but thank you for the advice

yeah im actually looking at this one on ebay ....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevy-GM ... ccessories it is what you just talked about the 3 inches and 2 inches in the rear i was thinking classic style 4 wheel drive. which should have the torsion bars. but yeah i like the sound of the 3 inchs of lift, but im leaning more twords just a leveling kit, taking off the lower front valence and putting a bigger aggressive tire on. make it look mean but not too extremely high. I have BFGoodwrench all terrains on it now until they are baled ill be running those haha
