is theres something differnt on the 17s

Postby lloydsmale [OP] » Mar 13 2017, 7:14pm

lots of programers for up to 2016 and the 17s have been out plenty long. How come no programers? is its something like what jeep did on the 15 and up wranglers that locks the computer so programers don't work? Or did gm change something drastically in the computer itself that all new programing is needed?

chyrsler locked the computers on 15 and newer wranglers. to tune them you have to send you computer in to have it unlocked, have them send you one and pay a core charge and return yours or buy a whole new computer. After its unlocked it can be programed by a tuner. Problem is if you go in for warrantee they will know the computer is unlocked and supposedly it voids your drive train warrantee. Most guys get around it by buying a whole new computer. Having that one tuned and swapping back there old one when they bring it in to a dealer. Your looking at 500 bucks on top of the price of a programmer. Really sucks. To bad someone cant come up with something like what aev sells for the jeeps that would just adjust tire size and maybe turn off the cylinder cutout. I think that's what 75 percent of the guys buying these are most conserned with. I could sure live with leaving my tranny alone.

Bikes have been the same way for years. You can ether buy the $400 plug and then buy software you need and figured it how to crack the Ecu. Or ship it out for $200. Mine is down in fl at the moment

Didn't "Chizler" (as my father-in-law used to call Chrysler) get in trouble with their diesel emissions cheating like VW? Maybe the Feds are making them all lock-down their ECU's to prevent 'cheating' and/or mods.

I wonder if swapping out your ECU would save your warranty. Wouldn't the stock ECU show a big gap between odometer readings from when it was removed and when it was reinstalled?

Well I know with the chargers/challengers you can get factory performance packages such as cams and heads. All under warranty and they give you ecus to go with it.
