2012 Silverado, need ignition on/off power source in cab?

I got a 2012 Silverado Extended cab, LS.
I need to find a fuse / ignition source for power hook, it needs to go off when the truck is off. Its for a 3 way plug-in lighter adapter.
I want to mount it in the back of the cab for the back seat.

I found the fuse block on the driver side front, but what fuse is an ignition on/off fuse? Or even better what wire is off the ignition switch and runs under the sill plate for the doors?

A lil confused, but the dash wires are only like 20guage. I assume you saying a 3way plug that you mean it has 3 OUTLETS. So shouldnt you only use the ignition wire to relay and ACCESSORY such as an amplifier or something ON/OFF and still run a separate 12v power wire. A cigarette/12v plug is able to supply power when the vehicle is off, being a hot wire and a heavier gauge to not melt down from the amps drawn. More so in the case of possibly running 3 electronics off of it. Maybe I'm wrong and the outlet you chose has a relay built on to it so it shuts off?

I'm only going to be running 1 phone charger and a ipod charger, and a radar detector.
I don't think they pull much amps? I could be wrong...

I'm figuring behind radio / HVAC controls. That is where I'm going to look.
Also, My truck is an LS, so it did not come with the console or the jump seat with bottom storage.
However, when I put the console in, I dug around under the carpet on the trans hump and found a 12 volt constant hot for the power outlets for the jump seat / console. So I would say that it is under your carpet as well.

I'm thinking about another "option" too, but I really need to check that out before posting it.

Let you know tomorrow!

Did you find that bundle of wiring? Maybe check the codes in the glovebox to ensure you actually have it?

I used the X-14 connector in the BCM near the brake pedal...takes some really small connectors, but you can tap into there for RAP and ignition on/off. You an search around here for my writeup, or search the web...its a common thing.

Ukjw21 Did you ever find this harness? If you did please tell me where its at I've got some things I want to hook up in the cab of my truck and could really use this. I would just look myself but I dont have a garage to work in and its just to cold for me to attempt this outside now.

I am checking in to see if the member has solved our problem for us... Looking to add my power folding mirrors to the RAP so it does NOT have constant power...

I don't know if this has been answered but on another forum at gm-trucks.com under installing a dashcam they give a complete diagram with drawings and pictures.

The take off point is a box under the dash to the left of the brake pedal. There are two empty slots on the left and are numbered with an "X". So the bottom one is X15 and the one above is X14. This is the one you want.

Pin 1,which is to the right top is ground.
Pin 8 to the far left bottom is V+ but has only enough power to drive a relay.
The relay will then turn off with engine off and on when engine is turned on.
Pin 5 has a constant 12 Volts @30 Amps.
Pin 2 has a constant 12 Volts @15 Amps.
I have wired up a 12 V to 5V power module for my GPS and Sirius Radio using the 15 Amp supply.
Concerned I would not have enough current available from this module, I wired a second one in parallel for my Dash Cam.
And finally I wired a second relay in parallel using the 30 Amp supply for my Inverter.
Now everything turns on and off at the turn of the ignition key.
Where did I get the 12 to 5 volt modules? They came with the devices, but I broke them out of the cases and cut the wires. This way I used silicone cement and adhered the modules to the cover, taking far less space than had I wired in cumbersone cigarette lighter style plugs.
Works for me. It might work for you.
That's my five cents worth.
Oh yes, I used a 6-position terminal bar to wire everything together.

This is an update to my post.

Not happy with my 12 to 5 volt converters, which I had scavenged from the supplied devices, I went online to look for a better solution, and which would provide the readers of this forum with alternative solutions.

There is a place in Utah called Powerstream (http://www.powerstream.com), that sells converter modules that are priced just right and can meet any expectations.

They offer the following;

12 to 5 volts
24 to 5 volts
48 to 5 volts
And
120 to 5 volts

Each module comes with pigtails (wires) and inline fuses. The current rating for the 12 to 5 volt unit is 10 A. I'm saying goodbye to my separate modules. One of these supplies more than enough current for my three devices.

I live in Canada and asked if there was a minimum order. There isn't. The single unit price is about $31. Just be aware Canada considers this to be imported technology and UPS will charge an arm and a leg for custom fees. So if you aren't in a hurry, have it sent by snail mail, which is an option that is selectable while placing the order.

I hope this provides more options to my earlier post.
