yesterday my airbag light just came on while driving down the road. I turned the truck off and turned the key on and the light flashed 8 times the stayed on.. Why and what could this be.. With the light on could the airbag just go off at anytime?
I have never heard of an air bag just going off. Usually the air bag system is completely disabled if there is a fault, but with certain faults the control module will attempt deployment in case of an incident (accident).
There should be a code set, but Autozone only reads engine codes. You need to take it to a shop.
had the same thing happen. Airbag wont go off, it is disabled. Take it to the dealer, I had a wire under the seat come loose, that is why you are getting the airbag light. Most likely.
I know this is going to sound stupid: check and tighten your battery terminals and connections -
I had this going on for about 3 months. I finally took it into the dealer, fearing the worst. They quoted the worst, something about a sensor-this-control-that. All I heard was 800.00 for the part and minimum 150.00 install. I held off. After a couple of weeks, I was under the hood doing the "man-card" thing (looking, touching ... really nothin') and noticed the battery terminal was odd. I pulled out some tools (woohoo!), tightened everything up. I haven't seen that airbag light come on since (2+yrs).
my airbag light also has gone off...I just turned the switch on the dash to off instead of auto...fixed the light lol..I know i have something with the wiring to fix..just adding it to the warranty work before my time is up
That tells me the problem is with the p/side air bag. Warranty is a good thing, there's nothing cheap about airbags.
