Hey all! Was wondering if anybody had any experience noticing some odd gear meshing type noises in front end when in 4 wheel drive. I have a 2011 silverado 4x4 1500n ltz. Seems to come and go every 3 secs roughly makes noise for bout 2 secs. Not using it right now as i don't want anymore damage to occur. I am thinking that the installer(s) failed to but in the differential drops. Would the makes sense? Thinking angle is too great since lift. Waiting to get in shop to have alignment looked at. Thanks dudes:)

comes and goes only when in 4wheel. Really leaning towards them not dropping diff. seems almost like is going in and out of sync....Thanks for the advice. You said should hear noise but this was immediately once lift was done. Also notice resinating sound even when in auto 4x4 mode while towing. I know this is different:( Really worried about it.

A little noise\vibration is normal in 4x4 mode; but if you notices a lot of difference after your lift, then you may have issues. Let us know when you get it checked out!

I have the same set up on my 2011 Silverado, only did the install myself.
There is no noise when in 4 wheel drive.
Crawl under the truck an see if you see the spacers on each side where the differential mounts. The new ones, which are added to the existing mount, are painted a gloss black.
If you don't see this, contact your installer.

KK. Went and got an alignment....lol,,..Actually not laughing at all! I went to a local place where i can actually sit and watch all adjustments:) The installers either did not know what they were doing or just didn't want to do the job correctly. The passenger side had been adjured to the max the opposite away from where it should have been....., .75 off! When i would drive i could actually feel the tires fighting each other! Now is corrected and drives like it should. Now...While under the truck we noticed that the diff. had been dropped, But, the bolts where was lined up from factory are actually offset by 1/2" at least which is REALLY weird, Where did it get the allowance to shift with the other side in the same spot from factory. My guy is thinking that when they took everything apart and and let the axle drop can apparently let the axle come out of position. Unfortunatly i do not know how to tell if is ok in spline joint..As the noise is less because the installers had the tire out zoo much was pulling on linkage! URRRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!! Brand new truck! I do not doubt that the installers are hacks as after the install i kept hearing clunking noises. I went under and to my surprise they had "forgotten" to bolt the upper rear shock. Like come on guys! Then they tried keeping my uca's 1.5" lift blocks and shocks! So as it sit now the noise is more constant and only hear and feel when i put the pedal down or tow. Still not right....Feels very rough when i put under load. Any link for front diff diagram that anybody knows of would be greatly appreciated....Thanks everybody for looking and i will keep you posted!
