i have a 2000 silverado with a 5.3 4 wheel drive and i need to change the transfer case gasket. its not the o ring . right where the cross member is where it leaks. i bought that gasket. i just need to know what will i have to do to remove it and put the new gasket on? any info would help, thanks!!!!
You have to first drain the transfer case. Then take the electrical connectors off the transfer case and remove the driveshafts. Support the transmission and disconnect the transmission rear mount. Then take the (6 I believe) bolts loose that hold the transfer case to the transmission out. Then you have to slide the transfer case towards the rear and get it clear of the transmission output shaft. The transmission case is not too heavy, but it's not light either. You will have to work it out between the crossmember and the transmission. Reverse the steps to install it.
lol yeah i have had plenty of those moments ...lol
